Our Program
We make homeownership possible by selling homes at no profit and providing interest-free mortgages. Through this we help people who struggle to find affordable housing achieve lasting stability through homeownership.
Our Homeowners
We select those who may need assistance to afford their own home by only accepting families who make 30%-60% of Boone County's median income. Homeowners are selected based on need, willingness to partner and ability to pay.
Sweat Equity
Selected applicants are required to complete a minimum of 250 hours of sweat equity. During their sweat equity they will help build their home and other Habitat for Humanity homes. Before families even move into their new homes they have a vested interest in their property and the property of their neighbors.
The Mortgage
Homeowners' payback the cost to build their home interest free over 30 years. The rest of the value of the house is forgiven, without payment, over the same 30 years. Selling the house for no profit, and with no interest, results in an affordable monthly payment for our homeowners.
